This route starts at Porthcawl and finishes at Porthcawl (South Wales coast).
This route forms part of the original triple crown route, which as of April 2021, has only been completed by 3 people.
This swim comes in at 15 nautical miles in a straight line. When taking into account the tides it works out to be approximately 26.6 miles.
The route is a challenging one due to the tides and on approach to Porthcawl when contending with the Scarr Weather sands.
The earliest record we can find for this swim was 1971, it was swum by Kevin Murphy. He did an amazing job of swimming the 16.6 mile route in 15 hours.
